How do admins create collections outside of groups?

We have added a highly requested update to your workspace - you can now toggle on/off a the ability for your admins/teachers to create collections outside of groups.

How to turn this on/off

By default, the ability for admins/teachers to create collections outside of groups is turned on. To turn it on/off go to your Workspace in Wakelet, “Permissions” and you will see the toggle “Allow school admins/teachers to create collections outside of their Classrooms/Groups”.

How it works

Once turned on, admins/teachers in your workspace can now use the collections area to create collections outside of a group. This is perfect for collections and content that are not intended for sharing in classes/groups, that you are still working on or you are keeping for the future.

FAQ’s

With current changes to our free plans some of your admins/teachers may be affected and come to you with questions. Below are some answers to assist you - if you have any issues please have them reach out to support@wakelet.com

Q: Why is my account limited?

A: Our free plans are changing and will now be limited to creating 3 collections and up to 200 items. As you are on the Education/Enterprise plan, your workspace will not be affected. If any users included in your plan see these limits, make sure they are using the correct workspace (switch workspaces using the profile menu in the top right hand side of the side panel). 

Q: I can’t create collections in the collections area in the Education/Enterprise workspace, why is that?

A: The super admin needs to turn the toggle on to allow you to create collections outside of a group. If the toggle is on and the “create a collection” button still doesn’t show please reach out to support@wakelet.com with screenshots and email address affected. 

Q: Why can’t my editors/students create outside of a group?

A: This feature is currently only for admins/teachers. To ensure admins/teachers have full visibility of editor/student work, editors/students create collections within a group.
